  • The Smoke Monster Jacob threw his brother into the creek and the brother floated into the Light Tunnel cave. Seconds later the Black Smoke Monster flew out of that cave and disappeared into the woods. Later Jacob found his brother washed up lying dead on the rocks. My question is: the Black Smoke Monster that flew out of that cave and disappeared into the woods, was that the brother-turned-Smoke Monster, or was it the original actual Smoke Monster that was living down in that Light Cave all the time?

  • The Purge could NOT have been in 1992 I am pretty sure that the “Purge” could not possibly have occurred in 1992, as so many of the theorists have claimed.

If the Purge happened in 1992, that would mean it happened four years after the French woman, Rousseau, landed on the island and killed all the other members of her team and then got her baby stolen by the Others. (We have recently learned that the baby was actually stolen from her by Ben Linus himself – who was already a member of the Others at that time, supposedly.)

The 1992 "theory" seems to be based solely upon a vision that Locke has where Horace tells Locke that he has been dead for 12 years. Since most everyone assumes that Horace died during the Purge, they do the math where the year 2004 minus 12 years = 1992.

However, even if Locke's vision was true (which may or may not be the case), it is possible that Horace died in1992 but from something other than the Purge, such as time traveling (which, also causes the tell-tale nose-bleeding also associated with the gas-attack deaths). He was, after all, a mathematician, and could very well have been involved in the whole time-travel thing and could have died in 1992, more than four years after the Dharmas were killed off. There are other scenarios, as well. My point is that to base the date of the purge on a statement from Horace from a dream/vision that Locke has just does not hold water and is totally refuted by the hard facts.

Bottom line: I don't think it would have been possible for Ben to have been both a member of the Others/Hostiles (assigned to killing the French Chick - which must have occurred around 1988 - 16 years prior to the arrival of the survivors of flight 815) and then, for four years to pass, all that time still being part of the Dharma Initiative, and finally partake in the Purge. No way. The Purge could not have happened in 1992. It must have happened in 1988 or earlier.

    Anyone want to discuss this?

  • The "Incident" Theory.. Egyptology, Religion, Science At the beginning of the episode, Jacob and the man sitting next to him disagree about the coming ship, the man says "they come, fight, destroy, corrupt, it always ends the same" Jacob says "it only ends once, anything before that is just progress"
    wasn't that a reference to humans ?
we know that many species lived on this earth, and maybe after humans there will come a new species.. so when the man says "THEY come, fight, destroy, corrupt” its like a life cycle.
the man is not happy with the new comers, and accuses Jacob that he brought them.. wait a sec !! isn't that satan's story from the bible, Koran, torah ?? because in the religious stories, satan was against the new comers "humans"
it is clear since the beginning that Jacob and this man are different sides, one of them is the good and the other was the evil

when we see Jacob was meeting the main characters of oceanic 815, watching them and making a slight contact with them since they were very young and through major incidents in their lives, that implies he was choosing them and already has them in mind, they were the CHOSEN ones, or if I may say "his disciples" that he will need for a certain thing on the island

the piece of fabric on the wall in Jacob's quarters is clearly a drawing of Egyptian Sun worship, and the statue is an Egyptian under-world guard, so is Jacob a pharaoh?

the end of the episode, when the explosion happens, or "the incident" I think its the Big-Bang, its the beginning of everything and I suppose that season 6 will have this message "the beginning of everything"
It seems Jacob's plan for years is to get Oceanic 815 to the Island. so it’s not just an accident that the plane crashed. Does that mean no matter what Jack does, even if Desmond never pushes the button, that these people are all destined to wind up on the Island anyway?

  • Carl's brainwashing video Personally i think that the statue was built by Atlantians, but perhaps more interesting than that is the brainwash video that was being used on Carl. Go to this URL:http://youtube.com/watch?v=nx4sqMHLtQM and then pause it at about 54 or 55 seconds. You'll see a collosus like statue towering over an island you should recognize.

  • Smoke? I think that the smoke is a kind of Nanobot. So small and it's able to take on any shape. A mist or cloud to transport it. I read a book in which Nanobot's traveled that way. Mind you I can not remember the name of that book.

  • connections As Kate goes to meet her stepfather, Saied is on the television she passes by.

May be this is not a real connection but I found it nice, when Desmond went to Charles Widmore (Penelope's father), there was a painting in the office that contains a "polar bear" and the word "namaste".
